How to Qualify for the National Championship


University Lacrosse, LLC (ULAX) provides a structured competition format and clear pathway to its National Championship. The qualification system is designed to bring together the top teams from across North America in a unified, highly competitive event.

“We cannot wait for the players and teams to experience the excitement and competitive atmosphere that comes with the enhanced competition provided at our national tournament,” said Tim Leonard, ULAX Co-Founder. “This has always been the vision—to bring together North America's elite clubs to compete and crown the very best."

Under the national framework the league provides several key benefits that enhance the overall player experience:

  • Teams traveling to regional or national events are guaranteed meaningful games.
  • Strong performances at regional and national events can improve national rankings.
  • At Nationals, teams compete against top talent from across North America in a single-elimination format.
All participating teams must be active ULAX members to be eligible.

Below is a breakdown of the qualification pathway.

Committee Evaluates:


  • Overall record (total points)
  • Strength of schedule and competitiveness of local division
  • Quality Wins (including head-to-head results and wins against top teams)
  • Results versus common opponents

Selection Process:


  • Teams are grouped based on Committee Evaluations
  • Committee compares team resumes
  • Resumes are compared across all qualified and at-large candidates
  • Results, opponents, and overall performance are reviewed
  • Committee votes determine final selections

  • In close decisions, priority is given to:
    • Quality wins
    • Head-to-head results
    • Strength of schedule
    • Roster strength and depth
Teams that qualify for the National Championship are announced at the end of each season and receive an official invitation.
